The finals of the Super Senior Division were very competitive for the 8 finalists. Larry Rumple,
who won his 7th Title, did not look very good after the 1st two matches. Larry went into the
Finals as the leader with 2330 for the 10 game qualifying, 35 pins over 2nd Place qualifier, Jim
Coats, and 51 pins over 3rd Place qualifier, Don Blatchford, who was trying for a back to back
championship win after his run-away victory at La Habra “300” Bowl last month. Don rolled 532 his
first two games, while Larry bowled 372, and after 4 games, Don held a 181 pin lead over Larry,
with 4 games to go. Larry had lost his 1st 3 matches but then won his next 4 matches with 1036
for the those games. He pulled within 13 pins of Don going into the position round. Larry beat
Don 268 to 214, and ended up winning the tournament by 71 pins. Jim Coats and Paul Appling
finished strong for 3rd & 4th places.
Larry would like to thank the Davis Bowling Supply, for the “Azio” Bowling Ball from them, and the
drilling of the ball by WCBT Member, Corky DeMaio.
32 Bowlers entered the Super Senior Division. 10 checks paid out for a total of $4,100.00.
For the Regular Division a two game roll-off was held between qualifying leader, Eddie Katz
(Lakewood), 2288, and Greg Haxton (Placentia), 2188. Greg beat Eddie for his 2nd WCBT Title,
414 to 397. Greg, earned $425.00, and Eddie won $320.00.
5 bowlers entered the Regular Division with 2 places being paid for a total of $745.00.
Total combined prize fund for both divisions so far this year is $11,140.00.
Overall for 342 Tournaments bowled, a grand total of $3,671,057.00 in prize fund has been paid
out.
